7Directions® dance ceremony

7Directions® is an earth-based dance ceremony where movement becomes medicine to engage the body and explore one's connection to the Divine. Through intuitive, non-choreographed movement, this practice allows you to listen and follow your internal impulses to unlock body wisdom. A sacred container is created through ceremonial tools, such as herbs, candles, an altar, and invoking the 7 directions (east, south, west, north, above, below and within). An eclectic blend of world, electric, tribal and devotional music is intentionally woven together per ceremony.

Format

7Directions® is unique from other dance forms in that it is a ceremony. Following a grounding meditation and opening sharing circle, the seven directions of east, south, west, north, below, above, and within are called in to create a sacred container where only the energies of the highest good are invited. Once the music starts, participants are free to move as they feel called. The ceremony is facilitated by experienced energy workers who offer hands-on healing as needed throughout the dance. Art integration time is weaved into the ceremony before a closing completion circle.

History

7Directions® was birthed by Staci Boden, a spirituality guide, facilitator, ceremonialist, hands-on energy worker and author of Turning Dead Ends into Doorways. 7Directions® emerged from her rich history of ceremonial study, facilitator group work, and love of dance. The ceremonial template used in this practice is derived from earth-based teachings as brought through the Center for Sacred Studies and Kayumari community. We are grateful to Staci and the Kayumari lineage for their guardianship and teaching of these sacred ways.

Offerings

ONLINE DANCE

7Directions has transitioned well to the online space, and through the online medium 7D is now available to participants around the world. Stay tuned for the next scheduled virtual dances.

In-Person PUBLIC DANCE

Public in-person dances are currently suspended.

PRIVATE DANCE

Private dances are available for people who wish to experience 7Directions® intimately. Dance ceremony is a great way to celebrate special occasions with friends, or to create a space for communal healing. Can also be used 1:1 as a personal medicine journey. Adriana (Sa Ray) participated in 7Directions® for seven years before earning her facilitator certification in 2018. Dance ceremony is a foundational spiritual practice for her and it continues to shape how she relates to the world.
